Our Lenten Journey for 2026: The Way

During Lent 2026, we will shape our shared spiritual journey around the film The Way and the ancient pilgrimage it portrays: the Camino de Santiago. Together, these will serve as guides for our weeks of reflection, prayer, and faithful walking toward Easter.

The Camino de Santiago—“The Way of St. James”—has been traveled for over a thousand years by pilgrims seeking healing, forgiveness, clarity, gratitude, or simply a deeper awareness of God’s presence. Beginning from many points across Europe and converging in Santiago de Compostela, pilgrims follow simple markers: yellow arrows, stone markers, and the scallop shell, a symbol of both direction and belonging. The Camino is not about speed or perfection, but about showing up each day, trusting the path, and walking in community with strangers who become companions.

Traditionally, pilgrims carry only what they need, walk at a human pace, and rely on the hospitality of others. Along the way, they practice rhythms of simplicity, listening, confession, and perseverance. These same practices lie at the heart of the Lenten season—stripping away what distracts us, attending to what matters most, and allowing God to shape us step by step.

The film The Way gives us a contemporary doorway into this ancient tradition. Through story, struggle, grief, and unexpected grace, it reminds us that transformation often happens not all at once, but mile by mile. Lent invites us into that same kind of journey—not a sprint to Easter, but a faithful walk toward renewal.

As we move through Lent together, we will reflect on what it means to walk with intention, to carry one another’s burdens, and to trust that God meets us on the road. Wherever you are starting from, you are invited. Buen Camino—may the way open before us.

"THE WAY" MOVIE WATCH PARTY

Please join us for a special showing of "The Way" movie as part of our Lenten series by the same name.

This meaningful and inspiring film tells the story of a father who embarks on a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago following the unexpected loss of his son. Along the journey, he encounters others who are searching for healing, purpose, and connection. Together, their experiences reflect the spiritual themes of Lent—reflection, renewal, and discovering God’s presence along the path we walk.

Show Times:

• Monday, February 23 at 6:00 pm

• Wednesday, March 4 at 12:30 pm

Location: Downstairs Youth Room. All are welcome. Come be inspired, reflect, and deepen your Lenten journey.

Let Pastor Shelly know if you plan to attend and which showing.

The Worship Team needs your help. We are collecting stones to make cairns to remind us of the paths along the way of faith. We need flat stones, 12" x 6" to 6" to 3" to construct our cairns around the church for Lent. We are also collecting walking sticks or wooden canes. If you can help us out, contact Shawn Klingler at shawnrck@gmail.com.
